If you need to post a new article, but you can’t think of anything to write about you may find these techniques useful to break through your writer’s block.
Let’s say your website is about painting houses.
Go to a search engine. Any search engine. Google, Yahoo, Bing or any search engine. Enter a general term such as “House Painting.” If you want be more specific you could enter “painting woodwork” or “painting trim.”
Or if your website is about Dog Training you may enter “dog training + sit,” “dog training + heal,” “dog training + down” or anything that you can think of. If you can’t think of anything just enter “Dog training.”
You will get thousands of results. That should give you a good start. If you want even more ideas try using the alphabet soup method. Take your search term and enter any letter before or after your search term. Go through the entire alphabet if you wish.
For example if you enter “tax deduction” and want more ideas try “a tax deduction” or “tax deduction a.” Then go with “b tax deduction” or “tax deduction b.” You can continue doing this until you get to the letter z. This will generate thousands of ideas for you to write about.
Try this twist on the same method. Instead of using a search engine use a “how to” website. You could look at “how dot com” or “answers.yahoo dot com” or “eZine articles dot com.
Once you have a good list of results pulled up on your computer, what can you do if you’re still stumped? This may sound a little dodgy but you can do it without any problem if you do it right.
Open one of the articles generated by your search. See if it give you any ideas. If so, just do your thing. Tap away on your keyboard. If you still can’t think of anything to write yourself you could simply rewrite an article you like.
CAUTION. Do not copy and paste. If you do search engines will actually lower your rankings. You don’t want that. On the contrary, you want to improve your rankings in the search engines.
To do that you must create “original” content. So if you read somebody else’s work and rewrite it putting it in your own words, search engines view that as “original” and your rankings will improve.
A side benefit of rewriting other’s articles is that you get to look at different writing styles. You can pick up pointers and other tips and tricks by using another author’s article as a template for your work.
You may even develop your own favorite style or styles as a result of exposure to other people’s work.
By using these techniques you should always be able to come up with new, original, quality content for your blog or website anytime day or night, 7 days a week. Whenever you need to come up with a new post.
Doing the searches as outlined above and rewriting another’s article anytime you get stuck will instantly overcome your writer’s block. From now on you should be able to produce an article anytime you want with no problem. Even if you don’t have any good ideas when you sit down to work.
How the Business of Branding Works to Meet Your Sales and Marketing Goals
One of the most important elements in making sales is the ability to build trust and rapport with prospects.
In person it’s easy. You shake hands, strike up a conversation and build a connection.
But online sales are a bit different.
Often times you are doing business with strangers who have never met you. They have doubts about who you are, if you can create the results they are looking for, and if you are specialized enough to understand their needs.
Moreover, today’s consumers are craving more connection and authenticity from companies they do business with.
And this is where business branding comes in.
Your business brand defines who you are. It’s the heart of your business. Branding helps to identify and differentiate your business in the marketplace. It defines and positions your business in order to separate you from a sea of competitors.
Branding creates an emotional connection and turns regular customers into raving fans. But how do you build an effective brand?
Here’s 5 ways to build a business brand that will strengthen your relationship with your target market so they will be more inclined to do business with you:
1) Claim your Niche. It’s really important to define who your perfect customers are. Brands that try to appeal to a wide audience are weak.
Instead, when you define your target market with a specific niche, it allows you to speak more powerfully to their needs.
2) Be the Top Expert. Being a dentist in your home town puts you in the same class as all the other dentists in your area.
But what if you are the top holistic dentist using all-natural products running a “green” dentistry practice? That brand may attract clients from all around the country.
Accentuate your strengths. Claim your title. If you are not the best, you can be the first, the biggest, the #1 trusted choice.
Find a way to set yourself apart as top dog in your industry. Then constantly read, learn and grow to keep your leading edge. When consumers see you as an authority they’ll seek you out.
3) Be a Wow. Seth Godin talks about “Purple Cowing” your business: “Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable”. Offering VIP value to your customers helps you stand out.
Instead of just being an oil change shop, imagine if you have a cappuccino maker, offered a mini back massage, and had a big screen TV within a high-end lounge that customers could wait in. You could charge premium fees for a business with “over the top” service and amenities.
Maybe you offer “freaky fast” service like the Jimmy Johns sandwich chain. Or perhaps you offer personalized services that make your customers feel special.
Do what it takes to stand out from the crowd and be remembered for something your customers will be wowed over. The more you strive to make your existing customers feel special, the more they will tell others about you.
4) Build a Tribe. Create a community your fans can be a part of. Some ways to do that are:
a. Share frequent updates with your fan base on Social Media and in your newsletters.
b. Tell them insider information about future offers, releases or launches.
c. Give them exclusive discounts or gifts with purchase.
d. Reward them for their loyalty. We offer incentives for those who refer others to us.
e. Recognize top fans publicly.
5) Give Back. Want your brand to become legendary? Find ways to give back so your business brand leaves a legacy. Here’s some ideas:
a. Create a scholarship program
b. Align yourself with a nonprofit
c. Get involved in projects in your community
d. Pay it forward on social media
Find your own way to touch the world and leave your mark in a way that only your company can.

ONE ~ Connect through Groups & Communities
First things first, you need to connect with online groups that are similar to your business. This allows you to see what your competitors are doing and what is working with customers looking for the services/products you provide. Though this is a vital step in your online business promotion, try not to push your business through these groups. You can include a link to your business’s website or blog at the end of your posts, but your primary goal is to connect not market.
TWO ~ Using Listing Services
Next, you need to make it easy for customers to find your business. Registering through listing services makes it easy for customers to find you using the search methods they are already familiar with. The three most notable choices are Bing, Yahoo! Local, and Google Places. Most businesses use these sites as they are popular across many users.
THREE ~ Optimizing the Search for Your Business
Along with getting your business name up where people are searching, you’ll need to optimize the way you word information. This optimization improves the likelihood that your business will pop up when that information is searched. This is called SEO and stands for Search Engine Optimization. There are many “how to” guides out there for more information on how to refine your SEO.
FOUR ~ Create a Blog and/or Website
A blog is a wonderful tool for customers to connect with your business and learn what it’s all about. This encourages them to stay with you over competitors as you can connect on a deeper level with your followers. Another amazing link a blog provides is allowing your customers to become email subscribers. This keeps your customers connected to your business and all the services/products you have to offer them.
FIVE ~ Social Media & Multimedia
Social media and multimedia are to a blog what SEO is to listing services. To get blog traffic, you need to post your content to social media sites so your customers can find you. Another benefit of the connections you generate through your online groups and communities is knowing what gets the most attention. Multimedia includes the use of videos to market your business. Online video marketing is actually one of the best ways to reach people as it requires very little work on their part to view. Video marketing is also a fun and simple way to reach your customers. Social media and multimedia are very important as many people are constantly connected to their social feeds.
Though it seems hectic, it is not impossible or as difficult as it appears to promote your business online. You just need to know where to start when aiming to develop your business online. If you use these easy methods, you are sure to reach the masses and increase your business. So, show the world the wonderful services your business has to offer. Bring your business to the people and the people will come to you!
Are you willing to invest in a more long-term and reliable organic traffic source for your website? Then let’s look at a search engine that can assist you in increasing your traffic.
Interview an Influencer or Get Interviewed by a High-traffic Website
Have you heard of Tim Ferriss, the author of the Four-Hour Work Week?
His podcast is nowadays a staple content type that he provides to his viewers. Tim’s show has world-class performers who share their insights on a variety of topics, and he is well-liked on social media. Do Tim’s fans enjoy the show? So far, the show has received over 50 million downloads. On most days, it’s the most popular business podcast on iTunes.
Interviews, whether on video or audio, are inherently conversational, lively, and engaging. The great aspect is that it’s a win-win situation for both sides. The interviewer is exposed to a new audience, while the interviewee is able to provide his website visitors with new fascinating and authoritative information. You can ask an industry influencer to share your interview with their followers on social media if you interview them. Consider the organic traffic you’ll get from their social media followers, which number in the hundreds of thousands. Consider the level of interest generated by a prior Derek Sivers interview on the Tim Ferriss Show. Derek shared the show’s URL with his 283K followers on Twitter. It won’t hurt if you establish a relationship with the influencer as a result of the interview.
Similarly, being interviewed by a high-ranking website can result in a significant increase in search engine traffic. Harsh Agrawal’s blog, Shoutmeloud, received 35,000+ views in a single day after he was profiled by YourStory. That was the blog’s most popular search engine traffic source (with 600,000+ monthly visitors). Because interviews provide consolidated value, they can be used as a long-term lead generating source for your company. Consider how many bloggers you’ve learned about through interviews on YouTube and other high-authority websites.
You may also conduct a Reddit AMA if you have a very compelling storey to tell. Mateen’s AMA got about generating $85,000 in profit by selling TeeSpring shirts/hoodies received 2000 page views. He also boosted the number of visitors to his website on a daily basis.
By registering as a source with HARO, you can also answer queries from journalists. On HARO, Christopher from Snappa came across this question from Inc Magazine about the future of content marketing. He swiftly responded with a thorough response. He was mentioned in Inc a few weeks later as a result of this. HARO is an excellent strategy to have your brand mentioned on authoritative news sites such as Entrepreneur and Inc. Those backlinks will enhance your search engine traffic and increase your marketing strategy by improving your reputation in Google’s eyes. Contact an SEO agency to find out how you can do this and how they can manage it for you while you work on the bottom line of your business.
